Policy Work

MYAN NSW undertakes policy work to ensure that multicultural youth issues in NSW are represented and to present a coordinated voice on multicultural youth issues in NSW.

MYAN NSW submissions

MYAN NSW and Youth Action provided a submission to the Inquiry into Migrant Settlement Outcomes in February 2017. Along with three Youth Ambassadors, MYAN NSW gave evidence at the public hearing. The Hansard transcript can be read here. 

MYAN NSW provided a submission to the NSW Parliament's Committee on Children and Young People in January 2014, for its inquiry into volunteering opportunities and unpaid work placements for young people.

MYAN NSW policy priorities

MYAN and RCOA Consultation on Australia's Refugee Program

In November 2014, MYAN NSW and the Refugee Council of Australia joined forces to consult with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Western Sydney about Australia's Refugee Program. The consultation was held at MECA in Mt Druitt. To read what young people had to say, click here.

The MYAN NSW has developed a Case Study Template for workers to use to inform the MYAN NSW policy and advocacy work.
