Be part of a national research project that explores multicultural voices, community media, settlement, belonging, and the power of storytelling. We’re inviting young people aged 18– 25 who arrived in Australia as refugees (or in refugee-like circumstances) within the past 6 years to participate in a two-day participatory workshop, run by researchers from Griffith University and UNSW. Would you or someone you know like to take part in a storytelling and community media workshop?
Do you meet the criteria below?
- Are aged 18–25
- Arrived in Australia as a refugee or in refugee-like circumstances within the past 6 years
- Feel comfortable speaking English
- Have access to a mobile phone to use during the workshop
- Can attend both workshop days on Saturday 19 September and Sunday 20 September 2026 in Melbourne/Narrm
- Can attend a short online briefing session the week before the workshop
- Are interested in exploring voice, storytelling, and community media to foster belonging and connection (no experience required)
Participants will receive a $200 EFT voucher for their time at the end of the workshop.
Food and refreshments will be provided.

- Saturday, 19 September: 10.00am–4.00pm
- Sunday, 20 September: 10.00am–1.00pm
📍 Where:
- Collingwood Yards arts precinct, 35 Johnston St, Collingwood. Closest station: Victoria Park. Or Stop 19 on the 86 tram.
📻 Optional community radio station tour:
There will be an optional studio tour of community radio station 3CR for interested participants following the workshop on the Sunday afternoon. Indicate your interest when you register.
