MYAN Australia’s submission to the Towards a New National Cultural Policy consultation calls for multicultural young people, particularly those from refugee and migrant backgrounds, to be recognised as cultural leaders, creators and decision-makers.
The submission highlights barriers to representation, participation and access in Australia’s cultural sector, and recommends targeted investment in youth-led storytelling, digital cultural production, culturally responsive AI and media literacy, community-led cultural infrastructure, and creative pathways in outer-suburban and regional communities.
MYAN urges the next National Cultural Policy to move beyond tokenistic inclusion and embed multicultural youth voices at the centre of Australia’s cultural future
