Meet the young panelists

Introducing the impressive young panelists that will be joining discussions at the Conference, sharing their experiences and ideas for creating an equitable and socially cohesive Australia. 
Lorraine Ngwenya, Founder of Useful Link, is a speaker, advocate and enterpeneur, empowering young people in areas of employment, personal development and leadership. Lorraine is a passionate advocate of youth community involvement and will share informed insights on removing barriers to youth unemployment. 
 
Hedayat Jaras will share his broad experiences having worked with several organisations including MYAN, Community Migrant Resource Centre and Settlement International Services. Hedayat is passionate about helping refugees and asylum seekers access opportunities and recently started his own business to support refugees and asylum seekers.
Shabnam Safa will share her views on human rights, civic engagement and global citizenship. Shabnam has represented Australia at the UN and will speak from local and international experience in not-for-profits. Shabnam is passionate about encouraging young people, especially young migrant women, to break free from stereotypes and pursue their aspirations.
 
Celia Tran will share perspectives as a dedicated young leader in community development work and a founding member of MYAN's YAN. Celia is a board member of Western Chances and the Dual Identity Leadership Program. Celia was recently named finalist for the 2017 Young People's Human Rights Medal Award. 
 
Anyaak Abiel is passionate about sharing his perspectives on issues impacting young refugee and migrants, particularly systemic racism and lack of employment opportunities. Anyaak uses the power of storytelling to inspire others to make a positive change in the community and challenge negative stereotypes. 
 
Arash Bordbar will join us as a young leader and advocate, working at the local, regional and international levels. Arash is an advocate for gender equality, sexual rights, and access to education and employment opportunities. Arash was awarded the 2016 Young People Human Rights Medal for his broad and passionate work in advocacy.
 
Ziagul Sultani is a vocal advocate and founding member of MYAN's Youth Ambassadors Network who is motivated to create positive change and find solutions to the injustice and inequalities facing migrants and refugees. Zee is an active community volunteer and was recently named finalist for the 2017 Young People's Human Rights Medal Award.
Apajok Biar, MYAN Youth Ambassador, will share her thoughts on youth advocacy in Australia and with UNHCR Geneva. As Chairperson and Co-founder of South Sudan Voices of Salvation Inc, a not-for profit youth run and led organisation, Apajok is a vocal advocate for South Sudanese youth and speaking up against all forms of injustice and violations of human rights and racism.
Grace Edward, 2016 FUSE delegate for Queensland and 2017 Refugee Alternatives Conference panelist, will share her views on youth engagement. Grace is passionate about creative initiatives and content to engage minorities, represent their voices and speak to the issues affecting refugees, migrants and asylum seekers living in Australia.
